The historic G.H. Bent Company building at 7 Pleasant St., also known as Bent’s Cookie Factory, has been sold, but the new owners plan on honoring the company’s long tradition.
The sale became final on Dec. 20 for a price of between $689,000 and $709,000, according to the buyers, including all furniture, fixtures and equipment within, as well as the attached residential apartment.
The new owners – Sean Christie and Chris Twyman – said they plan to continue running the business as it is, making traditional Bent’s products on the same machines with the same recipes.
They said they also plan to introduce a number of new products and update some of the business’ plant and operations, making the retail space into more of a café, including expanded beverage service.
The two also said they hope to grow the company’s wholesale business and eventually expand the Bent’s brand throughout the region, possibly with more retail locations.
