Milton, MA – In preparation for the Boston Marathon on April 21, British athletes Jo Andrews and Rosalyn Choate are coming to Milton to stay with my wife, Priscilla, and I at our Concord Avenue home. Andrews and Choate are both residents of Brighton, England, and business partners in a health and wellness fitness company known as Jo’s Thing.
Both have run numerous marathons in Europe, but for their Boston experience, Choate will be the marathoner and Andrews the trainer and support organizer. Choate has run the Brighton, England, marathon twice, but she acknowledges that Boston will be very different and a lot more challenging with the hills starting halfway into the course.
“I’ve never been to Boston before,” said Choate. “I’ve visited New York a couple of times but nowhere else in the U.S. It is all incredibly exciting – it will be an amazing experience. The butterflies are definitely kicking in now.”
Andrews competed in the London marathon in 2007 and 2008 and currently focuses on 10k races and half-marathons. She visited Boston in 2010 to compete at the World Indoor Rowing Championships at Boston University and is looking forward to coming back “with a bit less adrenalin” as a competitor but with her work cut out for her in rallying support on marathon weekend.
Andrews started Jo’s Thing in 2010 to help women find a path to fitness through motivation, healthy eating, exercise and sensible lifestyle changes. She and Choate teach their clients how to reach realistic wellness goals through fitness with strong support on every step of the journey.
Andrews’ father, Douglas Brennen, and his wife, Wendy, residents of Warren, R.I., will also be joining us in Milton as part of the marathon support team for Choate and Andrews.
