Milton, MA – Are Native Americans buried at Town Farm?
That subject is now being considered by Selectmen after items possibly indicating Native American burial grounds were discovered on land that was left to the town by colonial Gov. William Stoughton in 1701 for the benefit of the poor.
With Town Farm now the proposed site of a new housing development by Pulte Homes, Selectmen acting as trustees of the Gov. Stoughton property may be contemplating the possibility of delaying the project to further investigate the history of the land.
Town Meeting member Eugene Irwin first brought up concerns about Native American artifacts found on Town Farm at the Selectmen’s meeting April 22.
