Milton, MA – Collicot Elementary School Principal Janet Sheehan has been named as the new assistant superintendent for Curriculum and Human Resources for the Milton Public School, according to a statement released by the district on June 8.
Sheehan, who has served as principal of Collicot for the past three years, will replace John Phelan who stepped down at the end of June to take the position of superintendent of Belmont School District.
According to Superintendent Mary Gormley, Sheehan was selected for the position based on her “commitment to education.”
“Ms. Sheehan’s commitment to education, strong leadership skills and experience with curriculum and professional development will be tremendous assets in her new position,” said Gormley. “We are fortunate to have a leader with this unique set of skills to fill such an important role in the Milton Public Schools.”
School Committee Chairman Leroy Walker also praised the appointment of Sheehan to the new position.
“I am very pleased that Janet has agreed to bring her talents to the role of Assistant Superintendent,” said Walker. “Janet has been a key factor in the success of the Collicot Elementary School and will now help us continue our efforts to offer every Milton Public School student the most positive and diversified educational experience.”
