The Curry College community is on alert following an incident Sept. 19. A female student reported being sexually attacked by a male who was unknown to the victim at 1:30 a.m. The attack took place in a wooded area near the gazebo on the south side of the campus. The assailant allegedly lifted the victim’s clothing without her consent.
According to Fran Jackson, director of communications for Curry College, the victim was able to leave the area without further incident.
“The college took appropriate actions upon receiving the report, and that included supporting our student, and informing external law enforcement. We notified the Milton Police Department, and issued a safety alert to our community,” said Jackson.
Jackson added the school has an active public safety presence throughout the community, with 41 emergency telephone stations dotted throughout the campus. The college employs 16 full-time and three part-time security officers.
Police Chief Richard Wells said his department is investigating the details of the incident. “There is no information to cause anyone to have concern for a threat to the general public,” Wells stated.
