Agnes B. (Connell) Colpoys, of Milton, died Oct. 8.

Mrs. Colpoys grew up in West Roxbury and Newton. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and Regis College, and received her master’s degree in education from Boston University.

She was an elementary school teacher in Everett and Brookline.

After her marriage to Dr. Francis L. Colpoys, she and her family moved to Dorchester and later Milton where she resided for the last 54 years until her death. She spent more than 30 years as a summer resident of Scituate.

She and her late husband were married for 59 years.

Mrs. Colpoys was a devoted volunteer and assumed leadership roles in numerous organizations and institutions, including the alumni associations of Notre Dame Academy and Regis College, the League of Catholic Women, and the Milton-Dorchester Physicians’ Wives Club. She was a member of the Scituate Harbor Yacht Club and Wollaston Golf Club. She was an active and devoted parishioner at St. Mary of the Hills Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic minister.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Mary-Edwina Colpoys, of Watertown, Francis L. Colpoys Jr., Esq., and his wife, Margaret, of Scituate, and Andrew G. Colpoys, of Milton; her grandchildren, Kathleen Colpoys and John Colpoys, both of Scituate; and her brother, Rev. Msgr. Andrew F. Connell, of Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church on Oct. 12. Burial was in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.

Donations may be made to the general scholarship fund at Notre Dame Academy, 1073 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043.
