Aldona Likos, 89, died March 29 at Cape Cod
Hospital.
Mrs. Likos grew up in Dorchester on Tovar Street with her parents, Anthony and Emilia Matulis, and her sister, Milda. She graduated from Girl’s Latin and went on to graduate from Boston University in 1942 from the College of Practical Arts and Business Administration.
She married Thomas Likos, shortly after graduation. For a brief period they lived in Lodi, N.J., but moved back to Milton where she raised four children to become college-educated adults. She
and her husband built a home in Chatham where they summered and later retired. After retirement, they also built a
home in Venice, Fla. They were married for 67 years before his death.
She was proud of her grandchildren, providing
guidance for them in social graces, as well as cookies for their enjoyment.

She was the president of the Milton Woman’s Club-Evening Division (1962 to 1964), Mass State Federation of Woman’s Clubs-director of evening divisions (1966 to 1968) and president of the Milton Woman’s Club Past Presidents Club (1973 to 1975). She worked with the United Fund, the Milton PTA, the Friends of Milton Hospital and was a Cub Scout den mother.
Mrs. Likos was active in St. Elizabeth’s Church. She was received as a member of the Sodality of Our Blessed Lady. She was a member of the parish council during the changes instituted by Vatican II. She was chairman of the social activities committee.
She enjoyed entertaining both in her home and at community and church galas. She was a key member of a group in Harding Shores, Chatham, which began a 35-year tradition of neighborhood clambakes.
Once her children had grown, she worked for the director of admissions at Laboure College and Emmanuel College.
Mrs. Likos was fond of travel and always accompanied her husband on trips for conventions and alumni reunions. Her favorite trips included Denmark, China and an excursion across Germany, France and Switzerland.
She is survived by her children, Dianne Connelly and her husband, Fred, of Chatham, Thomas Likos Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Hawaii, Stephen Likos and his wife, Lillian, of Canton, and David Likos, of Chatham; her grandchildren, Kathleen Connelly, Marcia Connelly, Carolyn Connelly and her fiancé, Jeff Cantrell, Alex Likos, Hillary Likos and Elizabeth Cantrell and her dog, Abagale.
She was the sister of the late Milda Matulis Erickson.
