Alfred W. Ferrara

Alfred W. Ferrera, 87, died in Milton on May 25.

Born in Boston, he grew up in Orient Heights and graduated from Arlington High School in 1943 and Boston College in 1951.

Mr. Ferrera served in the Navy during World War II.

He was the retired president and treasurer of James Ferrera and Sons, a wholesale food distribution company.

An avid golfer, he was a member of Quail Ridge Golf Club in Florida and Wollaston Golf Club.

Husband of the late Barbara (Fearon) Ferrera, he is survived by his son, James J. Ferrera and his wife, Sue, of Milton; his grandchildren, Alfred J. Ferrera, Joseph Ferrera, James Ferrera and Colin Ferrera; his sister, June

Gibson, of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Lillian Antonelli, Arthur Ferrera, James Ferrera, Don Ferrera, Harold Ferrera and Walter Ferrera.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on June 1. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
