Allan B. Lutz

Allan B. Lutz, 84, of Milton, died on Jan. 4 at the Marina Bay Nursing Home in Quincy.
He was born in Boston and graduated from Boston Latin High School and Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
While attending Dartmouth, Mr. Lutz enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was radio operator on an ocean tug.
Upon his discharge from the Navy, Mr. Lutz continued his education at Dartmouth and graduated in 1946.
He entered the family food brokerage business of John L. Lutz Food Brokers, located in Chestnut Hill in Newton. Mr. Lutz was president of the firm, from which he retired at age 70. The firm was known for frozen foods, especially french fries.
Mr. Lutz was active in many food brokers’ associations.
He was the husband of Rita A. (O’Rourke) Lutz; and father of Janet E. Darcy, of Marmora, N.J., Carol A. Bauer, of Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Virginia M. Pescatello, of Yarmouthport, John L. Lutz II, of Dorchester, and Allan B. Lutz Jr., of Chandler, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Private services and burial were held following a wake Jan. 6.
