Angelo V. Andon

Capt. Angelo V. “Andy” Andon, of Milton, and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., died at his home Dec. 1.

Born in Korce, Albania, he came to the United States as a young boy, grew up in Boston’s West End and lived in Quincy prior to his move to Milton more than 40 years ago.

He was an airline pilot for Delta Air Lines before retiring in 1983. He was a former mechanic and pilot for Northeast Airlines.

He was past president of the board of St. John the Baptist Albanian Orthodox Church and of the Indian Cliff Association.

Capt. Andon was a member of the Yellowbird Chapter, Delta Pioneers and the Airline Pilots Association. He was a founding member and former sailing instructor of Community Boating on the Charles River.

An Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Albanian American War Veterans.

Husband of the late Freida (Nicholas) Andon, he is survived by his children; Karen Danis and her husband, George, John Andon and his wife, Betsy, and Mark Andon and his wife, Ann; and his grandchildren, Lindsay Andon, Kailey Andon, William Andon, James Andon, Alex Andon, Andrew Andon and Arthur Andon.

He was the brother of the late Millie Riggins and Thomas Andon.

A funeral service was held in St. John the Baptist Albanian Orthodox Church, South Boston, on Dec. 6. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
