Ben Lloyd, 78, formerly of Milton, died in Florida on Nov. 5.
Born in Boston, he was a graduate of Brighton High School where he starred in football and eventually became a local boxing champ. He attended Northeastern University where he studied the electrical trade.
Mr. Lloyd enlisted in the Navy where he served during the Korean War. He settled in Milton in 1964 and raised his family there until 1979, when he moved to Florida.
Mr. Lloyd was very active in the community and the Milton Babe Ruth League between 1972 and 1975.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Lloyd; his children, Robert Lloyd, of Coral Springs, Fla., Kenneth Lloyd, of Milton, and Debby Lloyd and Nancy Lloyd, of Plantation, Fla.
A military graveside funeral was celebrated Nov. 8 in Florida.
