Catherine A. Devlin

Catherine A. “Kay” Devlin, 90, died at her daughter’s home Dec. 31.
Born in Cambridge, Mrs. Devlin grew up, was educated and raised her family in Dorchester. She lived in South Boston prior to her move to Quincy 10 years ago. For many years she summered at Swifts Beach, Wareham.
A former employee of the Boston Public Schools at the Rochambeau School and the Grover Cleveland School, she was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed walking along Castle Island.
Wife of the late Philip F. Devlin, a retired lieutenant in the Boston Fire Department, she is survived by her children, Kathleen M. Daly and her fiancé, Kevin Coughlin, of Quincy, Philip F. Devlin and his wife, Mary, of Whitman, Joseph J. Devlin and his wife, Valerie Salvoni, Paul D. Devlin and his wife, Peggy, all of Braintree; her son-in-law, William Dowling, of Chelmsford; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Susan M. Dowling and sister of the late Mary (Mae) Malloy Brown, Theresa McCollum, James Rice, John (Jack) Rice and Daniel Rice.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Quincy, on Jan. 6. Burial was in New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan.
