Catherine T. Cahalane

Catherine T. (Carroll) Cahalane, 84, of Milton, died at Massachusetts General Hospital on March 19 after a brief illness.

Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, she was a graduate of St. Gregory High School and Fisher College in Boston.

Mrs. Cahalane raised her children in Dorchester and Quincy before moving to Fuller Village, where she quilted, sewed, baked and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She has been described as an active, independent, vibrant, fun-loving and cool person.

Wife of the late Jeremiah F. Cahalane, she is survived by her children, Kathleen Powers, Maureen Cahalane Gallagher and her husband, Michael, Jeremiah Cahalane and his wife, Karla, all of Milton, Terrence Cahalane and his wife, Debra, of South Boston, Carol Cahalane Coombs and her husband, Wes, of Exeter, N.H., Laureen Cahalane Tyne and her husband, Patrick, of Milton, Michael Cahalane and his wife, Carol, of Walpole, and Eileen Cahalane of Quincy; her grandchildren, Tara, James, Breeda, Catherine, Jerry, Devin, Dylan, Gillian, Emily, Shelagh, Andrea, Aisling, Aidan, Lila and Colin; her brother, Charles Carroll, of Braintree; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

She was the sister of the late John Carroll, Mary Colburn and James Carroll.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on March 25. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, West Quincy.
