Charles A. Hogan

Charles A. “Charlie” Hogan Jr., 68, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Canton, Milton, and Manchester, Conn., died June 30.
A graduate of Tufts University and brother of Alpha Tau Omega, he retired after 30 years as manager and executive at Boston Gas. For the past 10 years, he worked in the Dennis-Yarmouth school system.
Mr. Hogan was an avid reader, music lover and Boston Red Sox fan who spent summers hawking popcorn at Fenway Park during Ted Williams’s final years.
Husband of the late Mary D. (Conroy) Hogan, and son of the late Charles A. Hogan and Marguerite (Coughlan) Hogan, he is survived by his children, Chuck Hogan and his wife, Charlotte, of Sharon, Mary Preusse and her husband, Charles, of Bronxville, N.Y., and Chatham, and Julie Read and her husband, James, of Canton; his grandchildren Melanie Hogan, Declan Hogan, Colin Hogan, Lila Hogan; Julia Preusse, Charlie Preusse, Jack Preusse, Calleigh Read and Emma Read; and his siblings, Robert Hogan, of Rhode Island, and Jane Landis and her husband, William, of Ohio.
A funeral Mass was celebrated July 6 in St. Elizabeth Church. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
