Coleman Joyce died at home Aug. 31.

Born and raised in Pollywerrin, Galway, Ireland, he came to the United States as a young man. He had lived in Milton for more than 35 years.

Mr. Joyce was a retired member of Laborers Union Local #22 and a former employee of Thomas O’Connor & Turner Construction in Boston.

He loved Irish music and sports, and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (McDonagh) Joyce; his children, Coleman Joyce and his wife, Kristen, of Milton, Michael Joyce and his wife, Mary, of Melrose, Maureen MacMaster and her husband, Kenneth, a member of the Boston Police Department, of Hanover, Nora McClelland and her husband, Joseph, of Braintree, Thomas Joyce, of Milton, John Joyce and his wife, Ann Marie, of Braintree, and Margaret “Peggy” Harris and her husband, Robert, of Foxboro; 16 grandchildren; and his siblings, Nora Podesta, of California, Sarah Dempsey and Bridget Cloonan, both of Quincy, Mary Joyce, of Braintree, and John Joyce, of Quincy.

He was the brother of the late Michael Joyce.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Sept. 7. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
