Donald B. Falvey, of Milton, died at home Aug. 5.

Born and raised in Belmont, he attended Belmont schools and Suffolk University. He worked as the state’s director of standards and was a former administrator for the late Gov. Foster Furcolo before retiring.

He was the senior member of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee.

He served as a Marine in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II and in occupied Japan after the war. He was a member of Milton American Legion Post and the Neighborhood Club of Quincy.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn D. (Sullivan) Falvey; and his mother-in-law, Helen C. Sullivan, and sister-in-law, Marjorie E. Sullivan, both of Milton.

He was the son of the late Donald B. Falvey and Loretta (Fitzgerald) Falvey.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Aug. 10. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
