Donald R. Flynn

Donald R. Flynn, 84, of Milton, a retired Boston firefighter, died at home March 25.
Born in Boston and raised in West Roxbury, he was a graduate of Boston English High School. He enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Pinto during World War II until his discharge in 1946.
Mr. Flynn later joined the Boston Fire Department, retiring from Ladder 24, located on Boston’s Cambridge Street, after 33 years of service.
He enjoyed golf and cribbage.
Husband of the late Helen T. (Armington) Flynn, he is survived by his children, Kathleen M. Branca and her husband, Paul, of Milton, Richard D. Flynn and his wife, Angela, of Worthington, and Charles R. Flynn and his wife, Laurie, of Bellingham; his grandchildren, Stephanie Branca, Michael Branca, Philip Branca, Brian Flynn, Ashley Flynn, Christie DaCosta and Matthew Atchison; his great-grandchildren, Cody Flynn, Tyler Flynn and Brady Flynn; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Demaris, of Quincy.
He was the brother of the late William Flynn and Edmund Flynn.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on March 28. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
