Dora L. (Wiswell) Swett died on Aug. 30 at Radius Healthcare Center in Plymouth after a lengthy illness.
Born March 6, 1922 in Boston, she graduated from South Boston High School in 1939 and was also a graduate of Boston Clerical School after which she worked for the Underwood Co.
She had been a resident of Milton for 65 years where she raised her family. She worked for several years at Lillian’s Fashion and Bridal Shoppe. She was a member of the East Congregational Church Woman’s Society.
Miss Swett was always known for her sense of humor and loved conversing with others. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and playing cribbage. She was also and avid bingo player. She was most happy when surrounded by her family.
Predeceased in 2007 by her husband, Alan M. Swett, she is survived by her children, Anne Murphy and her husband, Joseph, of Milton, David A. Swett, of New London, N.H., Barbara O’Connor and her husband, Kevin, of Falmouth, and Janet Bejtlich and her husband, Michael, of Rochester; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was the grandmother of the late Jeffrey Murphy and the sister of the late Martha and Mabel Wiswell.
A funeral service was held Sept. 1 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
