Dorothy M. (Stanley) Leahy, 89, died at Milton Hospital on Aug. 28.

Born and raised in Milton, she was a graduate of Milton High School and Fisher College. After her children reached school age, she was a volunteer at Milton Hospital for many years.

She worked for the National Security Agency and the Defense Contract Administration Services before retiring in the early 1980s.

Mrs. Leahy was a lifelong resident of Milton and a winter resident of Florida since her retirement. She loved to knit and read, and was known for doing things for others.

Wife of the late Joseph W. Leahy, she is survived by her children, Joseph W. Leahy Jr., of Nashville, Tenn., James E. Leahy, of Fredericksburg, Va., and Christopher Leahy, of Milton; her siblings, Russell Stanley, of Florida, Donald Stanley, of South Carolina, and Richard Stanley, of Minnesota; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late William C. Stanley and Claire Carney.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on Sept. 3. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
