Born and raised in Boston, she moved to Milton in 1965.

Mrs. McHugh was a longtime secretary for the Milton public schools before her retirement.

Wife of the late Thomas P. McHugh, she is survived by her children, Thomas P. McHugh and his wife, Nancy, of Hollis, N.H., and Patricia Hanks and her husband, Jay, of Hull; her grandchildren, Lauren Hetu and her husband, Ian, Shannon McHugh and Christopher Hanks.

She was the sister of the late William J. Murphy Jr. and grandmother of the late Maura Beth McHugh.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church on Sept. 6. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
