Dr. Arthur E. Sullivan, of Hingham, formerly of Milton, died at Harbor House in Hingham after a lengthy illness.
Born in Dorchester, he was a graduate of The High School of Commerce in Boston, the University of New Hampshire, and Boston University School of Medicine.
He entered the Army and served in Korea for two years as a captain.
A longtime Milton resident, he served on the School Committee for many years, including four years as chairman of the committee.
He was the chief of staff at Carney Hospital and retired from practice in 1987. For several years, he summered in Cotuit with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie (Lynch) Sullivan; four sons, David G. Sullivan, of New Bedford, Arthur E. Sullivan Jr., of New Hampshire, Christopher L. Sullivan, of Hingham, and Mark A. Sullivan, of Cotuit; two daughters, Julie S. Sorgi, of Hingham, and Maryann J. Macdonald, of Hingham; and many grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Aug. 19 in St. Agatha Church. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Dolan Funeral Home. |
