Earl J. Sylvester, a retired Air Force technical sergeant, died June 2 at Carney Hospital, Dorchester.
Born in Springfield, he resided in Quincy for 30 years before moving to Duxbury 15 years ago.
A communications expert in the Air Force, he served for over 20 years, retiring in 1967. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the Air Force he was employed by both The Hertz Corp. and Savin Business Machines Corp.
He was a former member of the North Quincy Knights of Columbus, #2259, and Presidents Golf Course, where he was a past champion.
Husband of the late Geraldine B. (Dirian) Sylvester, he is survived by his children, Toni M. Fisher, of Indiana, Maryann B. Burke, of Westfield, Robert D. Sylvester and Edward J. Sylvester, both of Duxbury, David A. Sylvester, of Florida, and Earl J. Sylvester, of Easton; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on June 6. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Donations may be made to Duxbury Senior Center, 10 Mayflower St., Duxbury, MA 02332.
