Emily E. Mackin

Emily E. (Eastman) Mackin, of Dorchester, died at her home Dec. 23.

Born and raised in New Hampshire, Mrs. Mackin served in the Navy during World War II.

Prior to her retirement, she worked as a nurse in the intensive care unit at Carney Hospital in Dorchester.

Wife of the late John E. Mackin, she is survived by her children, Louise Mackin, of Dorchester, John Mackin, of Kingston, James Mackin, of Lynnfield, David Mackin, of Dorchester, Joseph Mackin, of Quincy, Frances Lawlor, of Quincy, Joanne Mackin, of Dorchester, Jane Mengesha, of Malden, Marie Gardner, of Quincy, Paul Mackin, of Barrington, N.H., Virginia O’Brien, of Milton, Robert Mackin, of Dorchester, and Elizabeth Garvey, of Quincy; 41 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late James Eastman.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Gregory Church, Dorchester, on Dec. 29. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.

Arrangements were by the Dolan Funeral Home.
