Florence C. Whiting

Florence C. Whiting, a longtime resident of North Quincy, died May 21.
Mrs. Whiting was born in Allston and lived in Quincy. She was a graduate of North Quincy High School and worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for 43 years as an underwriting analyst.
A charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, she served 63 years in the choir, 25 years as a Sunday school teacher, as well as being involved in arts and crafts for children and youth, altar guild, president of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, church council and several church committees.
Mrs. Whiting enjoyed swimming, canoeing and camping throughout the United States and Canada. She especially loved her log cabin by the lake in Hiram, Maine, and traveling. She visited 43 states and several countries. She was also an accomplished oil painter.
Daughter of the late Charles Arthur and Florence G. (Anderson) Whiting, she is survived by her
brother, Charles A. Whiting II and his wife, Carla, of Chelmsford; her sister, Beatrice C. Monson, of
North Easton; her nieces and nephews, Dawn Doyle and her husband, Mike, of Taunton, Leslie Whiting Poitras and her husband, Arthur, of Dracut,
David Monson and his wife, Kim, of Blackstone,
and Charles A. Whiting III and his wife, Kathy, of Milton, Vt.; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Lindsay Lisenby, of Raynham, Paul Lisenby, of
Troy, Maine, Kyle Lisenby, of Taunton, Mariah
and Ilayna Monson, of Blackstone, and Timothy
Poitras, of Chelmsford; her sister-in-law, Jean
Whiting, of Chelmsford; her cousin, Mary Lou Whiting, of Quincy; and her partner, Johanne Smith,
of Quincy.
A funeral service was held May 27 in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Quincy. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
