Francis X. Smith died at Milton Hospital on June 13.
Born and raised in Dorchester, he lived there until his move to Quincy 15 years ago.
Mr. Smith was a retired clerk at the State House and a former clerk of the Boston Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Carol J. (Gambon) Smith; his daughter, Emily H. Smith, of Quincy; his sisters and brother, Ann Smith, of Quincy, Patrick Smith, of Marshfield, and Virginia Ahearn, of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the son of the late Francis Smith and Margaret (Downey) Smith, the brother of the late Michael Smith, and the nephew of the late Julia Downey.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Gregory Church, Dorchester, on June 16. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
