Harold E. Meneely died at Carney Hospital in Dorchester on Aug. 27.
Born and raised in Dorchester, he was a 1944 graduate of Dorchester High School. A former resident of Quincy, he had lived in Milton for 10 years.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Mr. Meneely was a retired custodian of the Boston School Department. He was a member of the Milton American Legion Post #114 and the American Cribbage Congress.
He is survived by his wife, Luella A. (Ranton) Meneely; his son, Paul E. Meneely and his wife, Theresa, of Dorchester; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Linda G. McLean and Carol D. Meneely, and brother of the late William F. Meneely and Alvin G. Meneely.
A funeral service was held in the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home on Aug. 31. The Rev. Philip C. Jacobs of Trinity Episcopal Church, Canton, was the celebrant. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
