Henry F. Nelson Sr.

Henry F. Nelson Sr., 76, of Holliston, formerly of Dorchester, died in Milford Regional Medical Center on June 16.
Born in Boston on Jan. 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Henry V. and Elizabeth Nelson. He graduated from Milton High School in 1951 and from the Northeastern University School of Management in 1956.
Mr. Nelson retired from the Frank Russell Trust Co. as a financial manager in 1989. Prior to that, he was a pension fund manager for the city of Boston and state of Massachusetts.
A resident of Dorchester most of his life, he was a sailing and sports enthusiast and a president, treasurer and coach of Dorchester Lower Mills Youth Hockey League. He founded the Codman Hill Civic Association and Lower Mills Villager newspaper and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 180.
Husband of the late Joanne M. (Burke) Nelson, he is survived by his sons, Henry F. Nelson Jr., of Medfield, John E. Nelson, of Quincy and Robert J. Nelson, of Holliston; his brothers, David E. Nelson, of Martha’s Vineyard, and Peter Nelson, of Oakton, Va.; and his grandchildren, Shannon, Colin, Timothy, Marykate, Siobhan and Ryan.
He was the brother of the late William P. Nelson.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Gregory Church, Dorchester, on June 20. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
Arrangements were by the Dolan Funeral Home.
