Hugh J. Doherty

Hugh J. Doherty, 90, died at Marian Manor in South Boston on Oct. 21.

Born in Ireland, he came to New York in 1926 and moved to Boston in 1933.

He was a retired printer.

Mr. Doherty served in the Army, and later lived in Boston and New York, before moving to San Francisco for 10 years. He returned to Boston and retired at age 65.

He enjoyed gardening.

Son of the late Henry Doherty and Bridget (Kearney) Doherty, he is survived by his sister, Mary E. McNiff, of South Boston; and his brother, Owen Doherty, of Brockton.

He was the brother of the late Henry Doherty, John Doherty, James Doherty, Bernard Doherty, Rosetta T. Traverse and Frances Doherty.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Oct. 25. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.

Arrangements were by the Dolan Funeral Home.
