Imelda C. (Clarkson) Driscoll, of Braintree, formerly of Milton, died Sept. 1 at Radius Specialty Hospital in Quincy after a brief illness.

Born in Boston, she was a graduate of St. Gregory High School and Boston Clerical School.

Mrs. Driscoll was employed at Monsanto Chemical Co., Empire Mutual of Quincy, Jobs for Massachusetts and finally as an administrative assistant at Mass. High Technology. She was appointed to the Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women under Gov. Ed King.

A resident of Milton for more than 35 years, she moved to Braintree in 2000. She and her late husband, James G. Driscoll, were longtime members of the Neighborhood Club of Quincy.

She is survived by her children, Elisabeth Tuite and her husband, Andrew, of Hingham, Susan McGinnis, of Quincy, James G. Driscoll and his wife, Wendy, of Salisbury, Steven Driscoll and his wife, Janet, of Quincy, and Catharine Oeser and her husband, Russell, of Brookfield, Conn.; her grandchildren, Sarah, Ellen, Nora, Jane, Jimmy, Brendan, Courtney, Sean, Evan, Fallon, Seamus, Anna and Maximilian; her great-grandchildren, Violet and Sophie; and her sister, Dorothy C. “Sister” Teehan, of Braintree.

She was the sister of the late Mary E. “Betty” Sullivan, Ellen C. Mackey and Susan C. Walker.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Sept. 6. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.

Donations may be made to charity.

Arrangements were by the Dolan Funeral Home.
