Irene M. (Aspessi) Johnson, 85, a retired bank executive, died June 26 in Milton Hospital.
Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, she graduated from St. Gregory’s High School.
Mrs. Johnson was employed in the banking industry for more than 36 years, retiring in 1990 as a vice president and branch manager for Merchant Cooperative Bank in Dorchester. She had worked for Dorchester Savings Bank and Minot Cooperative Bank.
A member of the Dorchester Board of Trade, she was active in community groups in Dorchester.
Wife of the late Carl A. Johnson, she is survived by her sons, Kenneth C. Johnson and his wife, Suzanne, of Milton, Robert A. Johnson and his wife, Linda, of Scituate, and Paul A. Johnson and his wife, Andrea, of Hanover; her sister, Helen O’Brien, of Quincy; and 10 grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Louis C. Aspessi Jr.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on June 30. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
