Isabel Hachey

Isabel Hachey, 100, a retired teacher, died March 22 at Reservoir Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in West Hartford, Conn.
Born in North Woodstock, N.H., she was raised in New Hampshire and began teaching in 1930 at a one-room schoolhouse in Groton, N.H.
Miss Hachey moved to Berlin, N.H., in 1936 and began teaching classes to people studying to become United States citizens. She lived in Berlin for 20 years and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1960 from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire.
Miss Hachey taught in Hopedale for two years before moving to Milton in 1962. She taught in the Milton public schools at the Glover and Collicot elementary schools until her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of Milton’s Friends of the Council on Aging and a former resident of Unquity House.
Daughter of the late Peter and Martina (Doucet) Hachey, she is survived by her cousins and caretakers, June and Jim Birmingham; their children, Sean Joseph Birmingham and Rosemarie Hall and her son, Sean Patrick Hall; and many cousins throughout the United States and Canada.
She was the sister of the late Elsie Hachey.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church on March 30. Relatives and friends invited. Interment will be later in the spring, in Riverside Cemetery, Lincoln, N.H.
Arrangements were by the Dolan Funeral Home.
