James F. Livesey

James F. Livesey, 61, of Milton, died March 30.

Born on Father’s Day, he was the eldest son of Jim Livesey and Helen (Murphy) Livesey. Growing up in Westfield, N.J., his dedication to basketball led him to become co-captain of the varsity team at Holy Trinity High School and earned him a partial scholarship to Stonehill College.

After graduating from Stonehill, he worked in retail while he obtained his M.B.A. degree from Boston College. In 2007, he was one of the principal founders of Beacon Exchange Co., where he worked until his retirement.

An avid runner, he completed the Boston Marathon and was often seen running on the streets of Milton before dawn. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Livesey; his children, James Livesey and Katherine Livesey, both of Milton; his mother, Helen (Murphy) Livesey, of New Jersey; his siblings, Jane Livesey O’Hara, of New Jersey, Rose Livesey Colford, of Connecticut, Patricia Proudfoot, of New Jersey, John Livesey, of Pennsylvania, and Eileen Livesey Biskup, Jerry Livesey and Joan Livesey Penczak, all of New Jersey; his mother-in-law, Edna O’Keefe, of New Jersey; and his sister-in-law, Patricia O’Keefe, of New Jersey.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Elizabeth’s Church on April 4. Burial was private.
