James J. Brady Sr., 93, of Milton, died at Milton Hospital on Aug. 20.
Born, raised and educated in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Jamaica Plain before moving to Milton 29 years ago.
A retired diesel mechanic for the Metropolitan District Commission at Deer Island, Mr. Brady was also a retired Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Among other assignments during his 20 years of naval service, he served aboard the U.S.S. Aucilla and the U.S.S. Hyman.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia F. (Gannon) Brady; his son, James J. Brady Jr. and his wife, Maria, of Hingham; his grandchildren, James T. Brady and Kevin G. Brady; and his sisters, Helen McMahon, of Florida and Lorraine Fortunato, of New York.
He was the brother of the late Beatrice Parks and Ann Sweeney.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary of the Hills Church on Aug. 24. Burial was in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
