James P. Shaughnessy

James P. Shaughnessy died at his home in Braintree on March 12.
Born in Boston, he grew up in Mattapan and lived there for many years until his move to Braintree three years ago.
Mr. Shaughnessy served in the Army during the Korean War and retired from his position as a paper finisher of the James River Paper Mill, the former Tileston and Hollingsworth Paper Mill, in Hyde Park.
He is survived by his siblings, Catherine M. Meuse, of Braintree, and Thomas F. Shaughnessy, of Norwood; his niece, Diane Ridge, her husband, Thomas, and their children, Sean, Kevin and Thomas, all of Braintree; and many other nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was the brother of the late Francis and Robert Shaughnessy.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on March 16. Burial was in New Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan.
Donations may be made to Caritas Hospice, 310 Allston St., Brighton, MA 02135.
Arrangements were by the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home.
