James T. Killeen III

James “Jimmy” Killeen III, 55, died Oct. 25 while doing what he enjoyed most, running.

A resident of Derry, N.H., and Marshfield, he was born in Dorchester. The son of the late James Killeen and Eleanor Killeen, he graduated from Boston College High School and St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., in 1978.

Mr. Killeen joined the Marines in 1979, was a Gulf War veteran and eventually attained the rank of lieutenant colonel. While in the Marines, he pursued and received a master’s degree from University of Southern California. After the Marines, he started his own business in Derry N.H., Nutfield Brewing Co.

He lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for his quick wit and amazing, loving personality. He enjoyed golf, hockey, football and lacrosse, but most of all loved hanging out with his family on his deck, and at his home in Marshfield.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tina (McCarthy) Killeen; his sons, James Killeen and Jonathan Killeen, both of Derry, N.H.; his sisters, Patricia Dowd, of South Boston, Donna Gilraine, of Norwell, and Ginny Whoriskey, of Duxbury, and his father- and mother-in-law, Jack McCarthy and Anna McCarthy, of Milton.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Ann by the Sea Church, Marshfield, on Oct. 29. Burial was in the National Cemetery, Bourne.

Donations may be made to New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.
