James W. Gerry, 88, died Jan. 13.
Mr. Gerry, a lifelong Quincy resident, was a Navy veteran of World War II.
A Quincy firefighter for 35 years, he retired in 1984. He was a member of the Quincy Fire Department Association and the Quincy Elks.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, swimming and walking.
He is survived by his wife, Ann “Nancy” (McHugh) Gerry; his children, Patricia M. Leslie and her husband, Willy, of Braintree, and Thomas G. Gerry and his fiancée, Lisa, of Charlestown; his grandchildren, Connor, Kyle, Shawn and Brady; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was the brother of the late Charles Gerry, Bernard Gerry and Madeline “Sis” Mattson.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy, on Jan. 18. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
