Jean C. (Burgess) Maher died Sept. 15 at Hancock Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Quincy.

Born in Boston 90 years ago, she was raised in Jamaica Plain and educated in the Boston schools.

Mrs. Maher resided in Roslindale before moving to Quincy 54 years ago.

Wife of the late Joseph E. Maher Sr., she is survived by her children, Jean M. Hallisey and her husband, Joseph, of Braintree, and Georgia Madigan and her husband, Robert, of Arlington; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Joseph E. Maher Jr. and sister of the late John Burgess, Doris Staples and Hope Bellows.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Clare Church, Braintree, on Sept. 19. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
