Joan C. Blake, of Milton, died May 25 after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on Dec. 2, 1932, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late William C. Corkery and Hazel Malloch Corkery.
She grew up in Dorchester before moving to Milton where she and her husband, Richard A. Blake, raised their four children. The Blakes recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Blake was a volunteer for many organizations during her life and was a partner of Blake & Blake Genealogists in Braintree. During her tenure there, she was instrumental in growing it to international status as one of the premier probate-research companies in the world.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Richard and his wife, Jill, of Hingham, Pamela Frederick and her husband, Dave, of Scituate, Robert and his wife, Catherine, of Durham, N.H., and Lisa Carstoiu and her husband, Nick, of Scituate; her grandchildren, Lauren Blake, of New York City, Jaclyn Blake, of Boston, and Alec Carstoiu, of Scituate; her brother, Robert Corkery, of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were private.
