John A. Deering, of Milton, died Oct. 5.
Born in Quincy, he resided in Braintree before moving to Milton in 1976.
Mr. Deering was the owner and executive vice president of Industrial Heat Treating in Quincy for many years before his retirement in 1980.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Husband of the late Kathleen A. (McKiernan) Deering, he was survived by his children, Dr. Thomas F. Deering, of Atlanta, Ellen M. Deering, of Milton, and Kathleen D. Nezuh, of Lexington; and his grandchildren, Sophia Nezuh, Kaitlyn Nezuh and Courtney Deering.
He was the brother of the late Oliver N. Deering, Lillian E. Keefe and Margaret H. Lindberg.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on Oct. 9. Burial was in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
