John H. Brennan

John Healy Brennan died May 30 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Born in Cambridge, he grew up in Charlestown and had resided in Milton for the past 21 years.
A retired Boston teacher and football coach, Mr. Brennan graduated from Boston College in 1971 and received a master’s degree in communications from Fitchburg State College.
He played football at BC and was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys after graduation. He coached football at English High School, among other coaching positions, and was inducted as an assistant coach into the Massachusetts High School Hall of Fame.
Mr. Brennan was a member of the Boston Teachers Union, a former member of the Gridiron Club of Boston and a former Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 3 in Milton.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Lovett) Brennan; his sons, John L. Brennan and Timothy L. Brennan, both of Milton; and his sister, Kathleen Brennan McMenimen, of Waltham.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Pius X Church on June 4. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
