John J. Ryan Jr., Esq., of Milton, died June 6.

He was a resident of Milton for more than 70 years.

Mr. Ryan was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II, and was the longtime counsel of United Fruit Co.

He was a graduate of Boston Latin School, class of 1929; Harvard College, class of 1933; and Harvard Law School, class of 1936.

He is survived by his sister, Mary L. Ryan (Sister Gabriel Marie, Sisters of Charity Halifax); and his nieces and nephew, Mary L. Welch, Jane F. Welch, Dr. Gabriel R. Welch and Barbara A. Mikus, all of New York.

He was the brother of the late Rev. Gabriel G. Ryan, J. Virginia Ryan and Jane Ryan Welch.

A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Elizabeth’s Church on June 10. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
