John Mazeika
8/18/11

John Mazeika, 95, of Milton, died Aug. 6 in Homosassa, Fla.

Mr. Mazeika, a chef, was the original owner operator of the Milton Hill House Restaurant. He grew up in Lithuania and moved to South Boston when he was 18.

He began his career as a chef while serving in the Army. Prior to opening the restaurant, he was the head chef at the Blue Hills Country Club.

For many years, the restaurant was where the family worked and gathered. He was known for his humor, generosity, honesty, hard work, tenacity, and the twinkle in his eyes when he played cards or told a story.

He was a former member of the Milton Kiwanis Club and the Epicurean Club of Boston.

Husband of the late Adele (Masulis) Mazeika, he is survived by his children, Dorothy Brann, of Huntington Beach, Calif., Paula Wood and her husband, the Rev. Gordon Wood, of Westford, Robert Mazeika and his wife, Dorothy, of Feeding Hills, and David Mazeika and his wife, Alice, of Milton; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
