John P. Mahoney, 86, died at Caritas Carney Hospital, Dorchester, on March 23.
Born, raised and educated in Kenmare, County Kerry, Ireland, he had resided in Lower Mills for 48 years.
Mr. Mahoney was the owner and operator of Mahoney Fence Co., a business he ran for 55 years.
He was a former member of the Kerry Football Club.
He is survived by his wife, Anne (Walsh) Mahoney; his children; John P. Mahoney Jr. and his fiancée, Karen White, of Quincy, Joanne M. Grealish and her husband, Joseph, of Hanover, and Thomas F. Mahoney of Lower Mills; his grandchildren; Sean Grealish, Courtney Grealish, Sarah Grealish, Connor Grealish, T.J. Mahoney and Kerri Mahoney; his sisters, Bridget Driscoll, of Plymouth, Frances McKenna, of Lower Mills, Peg Downing and Maryann Sullivan, both of County Kerry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Geoff Mahoney.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Gregory Church, Dorchester, on March 27. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
