John “Willy” Kenney, 83, died March 30.
Born in Milton, he was a graduate of Milton High School. He resided in Milton for most of his life, moving to East Falmouth in 1998.
Mr. Kenney was a retired Milton fire lieutenant and a member of the Milton Fire Relief Association.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he loved his animals, watching Boston sports and doing work around his children’s homes.
Husband of the late Claire M. (Gallagher) and dear friend of 16 years of Lorraine Kunz, he is also survived by his children, Colleen A. McDermott and her husband, Stephen, and Richard E. Kenney and his wife, Susan, all of East Falmouth, and Doreen M. Kenney, of Weymouth; his daughter-in-law, Edith Kenney, of Milton; his siblings, Lillian Donohue, of Rhode Island, Ivan Kenney, of Chatham, and Alice Russell, of Milton; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was the father of the late John W. Kenney Jr., and brother of the late Nelita Nickerson, Theodore Kenney, Charles Kenney and Philip Kenney.
Burial was private. A Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
