Dr. Joseph E. Kelly, 89, of Milton, died March 7.
A retired West Roxbury orthodontist, he graduated from Boston College High School in 1938, Boston College in 1942, and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1954. In 1959, he received a Certificate in Orthodontics from Tufts, where he was also a part-time faculty member in the post-graduate orthodontic clinic.
Early in his career, Dr. Kelly helped establish a dental clinic for “exceptional” children at St. Coletta’s in Hanover.
A World War II veteran, he was a major in the Army Air Corps, CBI Theater.
He is survived by his sister, Mary A. O’Connell, of Topsham, Maine; his brothers, Dr. Robert F. Kelly and his wife, Margaret, of Worcester, and Dr. Leo T. Kelly, of Milton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Paul J. Kelly and William C. Kelly, and brother-in-law of the late Joan Kelly.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Elizabeth’s Church on March 12. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Arrangements were by the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home.
