Joseph G. “Joe” Lannan, of Milton, died at home May 6 after an illness.
He was a graduate of Milton High School and Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Mr. Lannan was the former founder and owner of South Shore Wholesale Tire Co. and Lannan Nautiques. He also worked in the public relations department for Boston Edison where he broke the all-time Speaker’s Bureau record for 86 speeches in one year.
He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, where he broke all eight fundraising records as loaned executive.
He is survived by his children, Joseph M. Lannan and his wife, Beverly, of Windham, N.H., and Larry Lannan, of Milton; and his grandchildren, Holly Lannan, Lauri Lannan, Nicole Lannan, Alissa Lannan and Lauren Lannan.
He was the father of the late Ronald Lannan.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church on May 14. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
