Joseph T. Hynes

Joseph T. Hynes died Jan. 2 at Carney Hospital, Dorchester, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Boston and a former resident of Forest Hills, he had resided in Milton for the past 31 years.
Mr. Hynes was a retired MBTA mechanic. He worked at the Albany Street and Quincy garages, and retired in 1996 after a 32-year employment.
He was a member of International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers, Local # 364, and the Knights of Columbus, Milton Council # 2749.
He is survived by his wife, Mary M. (Foley) Hynes; his son, Joseph T. Hynes Jr., of Milton; his brother, John Hynes, of West Roxbury; his mother-in-law, Mary A. Foley, of Canton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the son of the late Helen Hynes and son-in-law of the late William E. Foley.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church on Jan. 6. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
