Joseph V. Regan Jr. died at Carney Hospital, Dorchester, on May 18.
Born in Melrose 82 years ago, he was educated in the Malden schools. A resident of Jamaica Plain for many years, Mr. Regan lived for the last 30-plus years in Milton.
Mr. Regan was employed by Brinks Armored Car for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He also was employed as a security guard at State Street Bank, in Boston and Quincy.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill in the South Pacific as a member of an aircraft gun crew. Mr. Regan was also the chaplain of Post 114 American Legion and a member of Knights of Columbus Post 3049, West Roxbury, and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary E. (Connors) Regan; his son, John J. Regan, of Milton, a retired Milton Fire Department lieutenant; and his grandchildren, Colleen M. Regan, Joseph D. Regan, John P. Regan and Moira S. Regan.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Agatha Church on May 22.
