Josephine M. McAteer, 94, of Milton, died June 3 at the Hellenic Nursing and Rehabilitation Home.

The former town accountant for 49 years, she also served as treasurer of the Council of Aging.

Miss McAteer enjoyed spending time at her home in Biddeford, Maine.

She was the daughter of the late James B. McAteer and Josephine E. (Lydon) McAteer.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Richard McAteer, Diane Duclos and her husband, Mike, all of New Hampshire, Martha McAteer, of Virginia, Joyce Mackey, of Falmouth, Pat Valentino and her husband, Rudy, of Milton, and Kathleen McDonald, of Brockton; her cousin, Audrey Kelly, of Foxboro; 10 grandnieces and grandnephews; 12 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; and her cat, Susie.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary of the Hills Church on June 7. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
