Leila (Jackson) Brogna, 88, of Milton and Marshfield, died Oct. 26 after a period of failing health.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Carl Jackson and Selma (Fedder) Jackson.
Mrs. Brogna graduated from Jamaica Plain High School and attended Boston Clerical School. She retired from the state Department of Corrections after serving as the administrative secretary to the superintendent of the Pre-Release Center in Boston.
In her earlier days, she was a professional dancer for many years in the Keith Circuit group called the R.K.O. Lets. The 12 dancers in the troupe formed lifelong friendships.
She and her late husband were season-ticket holders (front row, center court) for the Boston Celtics since 1947 and enjoyed attending home games. She had a motherly interest and sincere concern for many of the team members over the years.
She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas with friends.
She entertained her family and friends and threw many parties, especially during the summers in Marshfield.
Mrs. Brogna enjoyed life to the fullest and brought joy to all who knew her. She will be missed.
Wife of the late Alexander “Sam” Brogna, retired assistant sports editor of the Boston Herald and Boston Record American, she is survived by her two sons, Dennis P. “Moose” Brogna and his wife, Karen, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Paul A. Brogna and his wife, Lucille, of Duxbury; her grandchildren, Paul A. Brogna, of San Diego, and Kristen Brogna and her husband, Bill Taupier, of Melrose; her great-granddaughter, Soren Taupier; and her nephew, Scott MacLeod, of Canton.
She was the sister of the late Thelma MacLeod.
A funeral service was held in the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home on Nov. 1. Burial was in Milton Cemetery.
